Matt, Traci, and Clark Ragas live in Chicago.

Matt is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, though he called the Sunshine State home for over a decade before moving to Chicago. Traci hails from St. Petersburg, Florida and has never lived more than 45 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico.

Clark originally hails from - well, we aren't totally sure. We're just blessed to have him in our family. He's a "rescue dog" as we say. :)

We made it!

We've officially made it.  We've been here a little over a week now.  We've gotten our bearings, found the grocery, Target and a place to walk Clark. And we've just about finished unpacking!  What more can you ask for?

We found our new home!

We went apartment hunting this weekend in Chicago.

Some of the places we saw were amazing, impossible to describe. One apartment looked down onto the El, where several trains all meet together down in the Loop.  It was a beautiful, snow covered view, onto a busy, bustling city.  Some were lofts, one had a pool, and several had views of the lake and river.

But after seeing a million units, (probably more like a dozen) we got lucky and found our perfect new place.  Two blocks from the Red Line, across the street from a main bus stop, with an in-unit laundry and indoor parking spot (two hot commodities!), and a very short car ride to Target and grocery stores.

We know we can handle the low 20's, at least!

Shockingly, it is cold here in Florida.  There's snow in Ocala, just a little south of us.  Crazy! 

So, we donned our new coats, ear muffs, scarf and a hat (me) and took the dog for a walk (and snapped a pic before stepping outside).  Clark's not fazed at all and we had to drag him in.  So we know he can handle 23 degrees too.

I know I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a little snow flurries tomorrow.  :)  But I'm sure I'll see plenty by this time next year!

I promise more non-weather related stuff in the next coming posts.
